The building is fully supported now, which means that the third floor is finally going up! The pile of beautiful old wood in the center of the space is going to be reused and the planks will look even better after everything is sandblasted.
The new structure is quite strong. If an earthquake takes down the second-oldest commercial building in Long Beach, the insides will remain standing. Good to know, for us future occupants as well as any long-term spirits.
